Quick highlights
- MG S5 EV will replace the ZS EV globally, with a new design, and a modular scalable platform (MSP).

- 62 kWh battery, 500+ km range, rear-mounted motor with 167 bhp & 250 Nm torque.
MG Motor is gearing up to introduce its next-generation electric SUV, the MG S5 EV, which will replace the ageing ZS EV in global markets. Set for a full reveal later this year, the S5 EV will come with a fresh design, premium interiors, and an improved electric powertrain.
A bigger & more spacious EV
The MG S5 EV will be based on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP). This makes it longer and wider than the ZS EV, promising more cabin space and rear seat comfort. Its dimensions stand at:
- Length: 4,476 mm
- Width: 1,849 mm
- Height: 1,621 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,730 mm (+145 mm over ZS EV)
The exterior design gets a modern touch, featuring split LED headlamps, a sculpted bumper with air inlets, roof rails, and connected LED tail lamps.

Feature-packed cabin
Inside, MG is expected to introduce a new dashboard layout and premium upholstery, alongside:
- Digital instrument cluster
- Large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Ventilated front seats & powered driver’s seat
- Panoramic sunroof & rear AC vents
- Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety
More power & longer range
The MG S5 EV will likely be powered by a 62 kWh battery, delivering a 500+ km range on a single charge. It will feature:
- Rear axle-mounted motor producing 167 bhp & 250 Nm torque
- 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds
- Fast-charging capabilities (details awaited)
For comparison, the outgoing ZS EV had a front axle-mounted motor with 174 bhp & 280 Nm torque, but a smaller wheelbase and shorter range.

India launch timeline
While MG will first introduce the S5 EV in European markets, India is expected to get it by early 2026. It will compete with Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti e-Vitara, and Mahindra BE 6 in the electric SUV segment.
Final thoughts
The MG S5 EV brings a significant upgrade over the ZS EV with its larger dimensions, improved interiors, and better driving range. More details will be revealed soon, but it’s already shaping up to be a strong contender in the premium EV segment.
