Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e-Vitara, in the Indian market. After making its debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the electric SUV has now been spotted undergoing crash testing, signaling the brand’s focus on safety before its official launch.
Recent images suggest that the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara has undergone multiple crash tests, including a frontal crash test, side-impact test, and battery pack safety evaluations. While details remain unofficial, these tests appear to be internal assessments by Maruti Suzuki, rather than those conducted by safety rating agencies like BNCAP or GNCAP.

Safety is a key focus for the e-Vitara, as it comes equipped with advanced features such as seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution). Additionally, it boasts a Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
Built on the Heartect e-Platform, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be offered with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. While official performance figures are yet to be revealed, the electric SUV is expected to deliver an impressive range of over 500 km on a single charge.

Once launched, the e-Vitara will compete with strong rivals in the Indian electric SUV segment. Its primary competitors include the Mahindra BE.6, a born-electric SUV, the Hyundai Creta EV, an electrified version of the popular Creta, and the MG ZS EV, which is already an established player in the market.
With crash tests underway and its feature-packed safety suite, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is shaping up to be a strong contender in India’s growing EV segment. As its official pricing and launch timeline remain undisclosed, excitement continues to build among potential buyers.
