Volvo has unveiled the EX30 Cross Country, an off-road-focused version of its entry-level electric SUV, the EX30. As the first SUV to carry Volvo’s Cross Country badge, this version comes with rugged styling, increased ground clearance, and an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup to take on challenging terrains.
EX30 Cross Country: Tougher and More Capable
The EX30 Cross Country builds on the standard model’s Scandinavian design but adds off-road-ready elements to enhance durability and performance. Key design upgrades include:
- Increased ground clearance (+19mm)
- Chunky front and rear skid plates for protection
- Black cladding on fenders for a more rugged appeal
- 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres (optional 19-inch wheels with road tyres)
- Roof rack and kayak holder options for adventure lovers

The front fascia sports a darkened shield with topographical patterns inspired by Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range. The beefier wheel arches and redesigned bumpers give it a bolder stance, making it stand out from the standard EX30.
Minimalist Yet Feature-Packed Interior
Inside, the EX30 Cross Country retains the minimalist cabin of the standard model but continues to offer premium features, including:
- 12.3-inch Google-based touchscreen infotainment system
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Panoramic glass roof
- Heated seats and expected heated ORVMs
- A full-width soundbar for immersive audio
The SUV is also built with sustainable materials, keeping in line with Volvo’s eco-conscious approach.

Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the EX30 Cross Country packs a punch with a dual-motor AWD setup, ensuring excellent traction and performance.
- 69 kWh battery pack with up to 427 km range (WLTP)
- Dual motors producing 428 PS and 543 Nm of torque
- Fast charging: 10-80% in just 26 minutes
- Softened suspension for improved ride comfort on rough terrains
While Volvo markets this SUV as an adventure vehicle, it isn’t a hardcore off-roader. Instead, it’s designed for weekend getaways, tackling muddy trails, snow-covered roads, and light off-road adventures with ease.

Will the EX30 Cross Country Come to India?
While it would be exciting to see the EX30 Cross Country tackle India’s diverse terrains, we’ll have to wait and see if Volvo decides to bring it here. As of now, Volvo India has not confirmed the launch of the EX30 Cross Country. However, the standard EX30 is set to arrive in India by late 2025, with an expected starting price of ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BYD Seal in the Indian EV market.
