Tata Motors has streamlined its Nexon EV lineup, discontinuing the mid-spec 40.5kWh Long Range (LR) battery option. With this update, buyers can now choose between two battery packs:
- 30kWh (MR) – 275km MIDC range
- 45kWh – 489km MIDC range
What’s changed?
At launch in 2023, the Nexon EV facelift came with 30kWh (MR) and 40.5kWh (LR) options. Later, Tata introduced the 45kWh battery, making the 40.5kWh variant less relevant.
The pricing remains similar despite this change, with the MR variants starting at ₹12.49 lakh and the top-end 45kWh Red Dark edition at ₹17.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Why did Tata discontinue the 40.5kWh version?
The real-world range of the 40.5kWh battery (273km) was not significantly better than the 30kWh version (MIDC 275km). With the 45kWh battery offering a nearly 500km range, the middle-ground variant became less appealing.
Should you be concerned?
Not really. The 30kWh MR remains an affordable city-friendly option, while the 45kWh version caters to long-distance users. Tata's move simplifies the lineup while keeping choices clear for EV buyers.
