Mahindra has made a key change to its mandatory charging policy for its upcoming electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Based on customer feedback, buyers will now have the option to opt out of the company’s charging solution, giving them more flexibility when setting up their EV charging infrastructure.
Mahindra’s Updated Charging Policy: What’s New?
- Customers are no longer required to purchase Mahindra’s charger.
- Opting out is allowed if:
- Their home or office lacks provisions for a private charger.
- They already own a compatible charger meeting Mahindra’s safety standards.
- They have multiple EVs and a single charging point is sufficient.
- Previously, Mahindra had mandated customers to purchase either:
- A 7.2 kW charger for ₹50,000.
- An 11.2 kW charger for ₹75,000.
More Flexibility, but Mahindra Still Recommends Its Chargers
While customers now have the freedom to choose their own charging setup, Mahindra continues to recommend its certified chargers for optimal safety and performance. The policy revision is a direct response to customer concerns, especially for those who already have compatible charging solutions or lack private parking spaces.
With the BE 6 and XEV 9e already on the roads, this update gives buyers more flexibility, ensuring they aren’t forced into additional costs while making Mahindra’s EV lineup more accessible and customer-friendly.
