Hyundai is gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated Creta Electric at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo on January 17. Positioned to take on the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, and MG ZS EV, the Creta Electric marks Hyundai’s foray into the competitive mid-size electric SUV market in India. The EV borrows much of its design and features from its ICE counterpart, but adds an array of EV-specific upgrades to elevate the driving experience.
Design and Interiors
The Creta Electric shares its cabin layout with the petrol and diesel variants, retaining its dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, dual-zone climate control, and premium Bose 8-speaker sound system. However, the EV gets a redesigned steering wheel and floating center console with EV-specific features, such as a shift-by-wire system integrated into a control stalk, freeing up space for cup holders and other utilities.
Hyundai has given the Creta Electric a sophisticated dual-tone Granite Gray and Dark Navy interior theme, along with eco-friendly seats. For added convenience, the top-spec variant comes with eight-way powered front seats, memory settings for the driver’s seat, and a boss mode function for added rear passenger comfort.
Tech and Features
The Creta Electric is packed with cutting-edge technology, including Hyundai’s Level 2 ADAS suite, which offers features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision warning.
Other standout features include:
- Digital Key: Unlock or lock the car using a smartphone.
- V2L Charging: Use the car as a power source for external devices.
- Voice Commands: Enhanced infotainment control through voice activation.
- Charging Convenience: In-car payment for EV charging.
Performance and Charging
The Hyundai Creta Electric will be available in two battery pack options:
- 42kWh Battery: Offers 135hp and a range of 390km (MIDC).
- 51.4kWh Battery: Produces 171hp, delivers a range of 473km (MIDC), and accelerates from 0-100kmph in 7.9 seconds.
Charging the EV is made convenient with an 11kW AC charger that fully charges the larger battery in just four hours. Alternatively, a DC fast charger can juice the battery from 10-80% in 58 minutes. Hyundai’s myHyundai app adds more convenience with features like remote charging start/stop and scheduling.
Variants and Colors
The Creta Electric will be offered in four variants with up to 10 color options, allowing customers to choose a model that best suits their preferences.
