Ather Energy is gearing up to start the new year with the launch of the 2025 edition of its popular 450 electric scooter. Scheduled for unveiling on January 4, 2025, the upcoming model promises significant upgrades in performance, safety, and software. Here’s everything we know so far about the highly anticipated electric two-wheeler.
Performance and Safety Upgrades
The 2025 Ather 450 is expected to see a bump in its top speed, potentially reaching 100 km/h, up from the current model’s 90 km/h. This aligns with Ather’s focus on enhancing the riding experience. Battery range improvements are also anticipated, with the real-world range likely exceeding the existing 90 km (2.9 kWh) and 110 km (3.7 kWh) options. This would cater to urban riders seeking more efficiency and fewer charging stops.
In terms of safety, the scooter could debut an advanced version of its Skid Control traction system, hinted at by CEO Tarun Mehta’s recent social media teaser. This enhanced traction control, dubbed ‘Track-Tion,’ aims to deliver better grip and stability, especially in challenging riding conditions.
New Features and Software Updates
The new Ather 450 is set to feature Magic Twist, a unique functionality where the throttle also acts as a braking mechanism. This innovative feature, currently available on the Ather 450 Apex, enhances rider control and adds to the thrill of riding.
Additionally, the scooter will come equipped with AtherStack 6, the latest version of Ather’s proprietary software. This update is expected to bring a host of new features and improvements to the scooter’s digital dashboard and connectivity.
Pricing and Variants
The 2025 Ather 450 will come with a price hike of approximately ₹5,000 across its variants. Currently, the 450 is priced between ₹1.40 lakh (2.9 kWh without Pro Pack) and ₹1.75 lakh (3.7 kWh with Pro Pack), ex-showroom. The updated pricing structure will reflect the additional features and performance enhancements.
Launch Event Highlights
Ather Energy has announced an exciting launch event for the 450, where the electric scooter will participate in a high-speed track race against two ICE vehicles: a 160cc motorcycle and a 125cc scooter. This race aims to showcase the scooter’s improved performance and competitive edge over traditional ICE vehicles.
